Gabe was so shy and unsure of himself when he started. It is amazing how much Taekwondo has helped his self confidence and self esteem. Now, he is a leader and role model.
The thing I like the most about Taekwondo for Katie is that she just has fun. It is such a positive, supportive environment. She isn't super serious about it, she has fun and absorbs from the positive role models around her.
A lot of things have effected Jake in this school. The community atmosphere and positive role models have strengthened his ability to make good choices. He's also learned a great deal of perseverence. This last testing showed him how he could accomplish anything when he gave it all he had. He worked hard, and was very proud of himself (as were we) when he passed his belt test.
Rebecca Valdez (Mother): Taekwondo has brought out Pierce's wonderful personality for all to see, I am very proud of Pierce for overcoming his shyness around others. Mary Valdez (Grandmother): It's taught him a great deal about self-control and perseverence. He's more resilliant, and doesn't give up or get upset as easily. He also used to be extremely shy. I think this has given him a more outgoing and self-confident attitude.
It's built a great deal of respect and esteem. He says yes ma'am and yes sir when didn't before. He's also more self-confident. He used to be very quiet, both in school and in public. Now he talks a great deal more and he says 'hi' to just about everyone he meets.
